Interview Questions

Reflecting on your time at LIS, what aspect of the curriculum or learning approach do you believe had the most significant impact on your personal and professional growth?

Honestly, when I reflect on the impact LIS has had on me I realise that it has fundamentally changed my outlook on life. It has helped me respect the power of balance, multiplicity, and contradiction. While it may be instinctual in a university setting to consider these ideas intellectually - how they apply to problem solving, for instance - at LIS they have resonated with me as principles for living, finding purpose, and being present. Truly, the education I received here from faculty and friends has shaped the way I see the world and left me with a drive to pursue it.

Why did you decide to come to LIS?

I came to LIS because I didn't know what to I wanted to do, but I knew I had too many interests to pursue one thing. I had tried that before, and it didn't take. When I arrived at LIS I quickly discovered the strength of holding such an open mindset. Now I feel fortunate to be in a place where I still don't really know what I want to do (don't tell my boss!) but my confidence in holding that mindset has shifted, away from choice paralysis to an excitement to grasp new and unexpected opportunities.

How did you find living and studying in East London?

I feel so fortunate to have had this opportunity. Not only have I had incredible experiences and met new friends, but I now feel incredibly well positioned to go into the next stage of my life in London. I know the lay of the land, I know where the secret gems are, and most importantly I have a strong network of friends and colleagues ready to support me in my next chapter.
