For those of you who are new to LIS, welcome! This is the start of an exciting path for you, and we hope you’re looking forward to embarking on a new, innovative, and transformative education journey.
At LIS, we believe that the solutions to the world's most complex and interconnected problems won't come from a single specialism or subject. We need to bring together experts and knowledge from across the arts, sciences, and humanities.
So, that’s why we’ve created an institution that welcomes intellectual curiosity, and truly exceptional students. If you think that sounds like the right place for you, then keep on scrolling!
Entering Clearing provides you with another opportunity to shape your future. It’s a way for you to apply to LIS if you decided not to apply to university before June 30 or you haven’t been accepted by your firm and insurance choice universities.
You can also use Clearing if:
- You didn't like any of your offers
- You haven’t received any offers
- You didn’t get a place at your firm or insurance choice because of your grades
- Your grades are higher than predicted so you want to try courses with more competitive entry requirements
- You’ve changed your mind and want to see what else is out there

Once you have connected with a member of the team over the phone we will arrange a time for a short telephone call. The phone call gives us the opportunity to hear about your passions, interests and aspirations.
We’ll then look at your qualifications and any other relevant application data and make a decision over the phone. If you are offered a place, we will send you an email with our four character course code.

Accepting your Clearing offer
You’ll need to accept your offer by following these straight-forward steps:

- Find the ‘add Clearing choice’ button and enter LIS’s institution code. You’ll find the four-character course code shown in your confirmation email from us.

Upcoming events
Do you accept applications through UCAS?
We are now accepting applications through UCAS. Applicants can apply via UCAS (the UK-based admissions system), or directly via our website.
We operate a rolling admissions process, so we still accept applications past the January UCAS deadline. However, we still encourage you to apply as soon as possible to secure your place at LIS.
Please note: At LIS we believe in a more holistic admissions process that goes beyond grades and personal statements. As a result, we don't require a personal statement for either UCAS or direct applications. We value getting to know each candidate individually through our interview process, Selection Days.
What are Selection Days and what do they involve?
We invite all eligible applicants for a Selection day, our take on interviews, where we explore your passions, motivations, and aspirations. This allows us to understand your potential for interdisciplinary thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration – qualities that we value highly in our diverse community.
Your Selection Day will consist of two interviews: one where we get to know you, and one where we get to know how you think. We know that sometimes 'interviews' might feel scary or intimidating, but at LIS, we want you to think of our Selection Days as something different entirely — it is an opportunity to meet some of our team, to explore real-world problems with our incredible faculty, and an opportunity for you to tell us all about your passions, interests, and reasons for applying to LIS.
What qualifications are acceptable?
We welcome A-levels, Scottish Highers and Advanced Highers, Irish Leaving Certificate, Welsh Baccalaureate, French Baccalaureate, German Abitur, Italian Diploma di Esame di Stato, International Baccalaureate and more!
We also welcome applications from students at any stage in their higher education journey, including students who already have their grades and mature students. Please get in touch if you are unsure whether your qualifications will be accepted.
When do applications open and how do I apply?
Applications for 2024 will open in September. There are no application fees. Applicants can apply via UCAS (the UK-based admissions system), or directly via our website. Please note that we operate a rolling admissions process, so we still accept applications past the January UCAS deadline. When you apply, we’ll ask you for some background information including your contact information, education, and predicted grades.
Please note: At LIS we believe in a more holistic admissions process that goes beyond grades and personal statements. As a result, we don't require a personal statement for either UCAS or direct applications. We value getting to know each candidate individually through our interview process, Selection Days.
All eligible applicants will be invited to a Selection Day. These days will consist of interviews and have been designed in line with how the world's leading companies are recruiting their employees today. No preparation is required.
Why is your admissions process so different to other universities?
At LIS we believe in a more holistic admissions process that goes beyond grades and personal statements. As a result, we don't require a personal statement for either UCAS or direct applications. We value getting to know each candidate individually through our interview process, Selection Days.
This is an academically rigorous course, yet we know you’re more than your grades. We are curious about who you are as a person—what motivates and inspires you—and grades can’t tell us the full story.
Instead, we’ll look at your academic achievements in the context of your educational, familial, and personal background. We want to understand what you've achieved academically given your starting point in life.
Will you take my background or personal circumstances into consideration?
It is our goal to ensure that no applicant is disadvantaged due to their background or personal circumstances.
We will take your personal and family background into account when considering your academic attainment. This will not impact the likelihood of your being made an offer. Only where we consider that you show strong academic attainment given your personal background will this have any bearing on our decision-making.
Can I request feedback on my application, and can I reapply if I am unsuccessful?
Yes, of course. Simply email admissions@lis.ac.uk if you would like to request feedback on your application. If your application is unsuccessful you may reapply to LIS either the following year or in a future year. We strongly advise that you request detailed feedback on your original application if you are unsuccessful and wish to reapply.
You can appeal an admissions decision if you feel that it was not made fairly on the basis of the evidence you originally submitted.
However, you cannot appeal against admissions decisions based on the academic judgment of LIS staff about your suitability for entry to the degree. More information can be found in our Applicant Complaints and Appeals Procedure in the policies section on our website.
