Regulatory update: LIS breaks 50-year record
Power to award own degrees at launch, the first in 50 years
LIS has been granted powers to award the first degree of its kind in the UK, dedicated to tackling real-world problems such as the climate crisis, the ethics of AI, and COVID-19.
Awarded top marks in every area of academic standards and qualities, the Office for Students (the higher education regulator in England) has said LIS can award its BASc degree in Interdisciplinary Problems & Methods from 2021.
LIS is the first new provider to gain new degree awarding powers from the start in over 50 years.
LIS is an official provider of Higher Education and can be found on the OfS register of providers. Being a registered provider means that students who study at LIS will be able to access student finance (including both tuition fees and maintenance loans).
