Urbanism Reimagined: How Interdisciplinary Thinking Can Shape Tomorrow's Cities

Who designs the street you walk along every morning, or manages the train station that becomes your second living room as you commute, or secures and cleans your place of work each night? Are these spaces fit for the people that use and maintain them? And who determines their future?

These are some of the questions at the heart of our ‘Urban Futures’ module at LIS. In this webinar, we’ll explore an interdisciplinary approach to urbanism that breaks beyond conventional boundaries, encouraging us to rethink the complexity of the spaces we all inhabit and propose how we can act upon this.

LIS faculty Lara Kinneir will share how we teach urbanism at LIS, drawing on her extensive experience spanning architecture, spatial design, city regeneration, and global policy. You’ll also hear from LIS alumni, who recently delivered a workshop with Lara at the UN Habitat’s World Urban Forum 12. Their experience illustrates how LIS students and staff collaborate to turn classroom insights into impactful, real-world contributions to today’s most pressing urban challenges.
